Placing them in area where there are few bushes and many wide open spaces seems to work the best. Sorry a birdie was nabbed, but when you love birds and well as cats, a balance has to be struck!cynthiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05552211763102865516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8980818082233101837.post-8931387637552280222012-05-21T10:05:36.797-04:002012-05-21T10:05:36.797-04:00What a delightful blog! Your pictures of the lovely song birds remind me of looking out my windows (before all my trees blew down!) You are a woman after my own heart. I LOVE Ina Garten and had a very heartwarming experience where she was able to comfort some friends and me after the deadly tornado last May 22, that destroyed our homes, many of our lives, and our city, Joplin, Missouri. Her kindness and generosity will not be forgotten. I am so happy you like her too .. . and the tabbies of course! Thank you for your wonderful blog!cynthiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05552211763102865516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8980818082233101837.post-66514700425944205812012-04-09T10:37:49.905-04:002012-04-09T10:37:49.905-04:00Hi Tess! Only two comments on my blog post - but at least I had a lot of people looking at it!

We have 2 birdfeeders and we love to look at all the activity outside. My husband recently bought a baffle - which makes it very difficult for the squirrels to steal the bird's food. We learned the hard way last year about the location of our birdfeeder. We had it fairly close to our deck and a very crafty cat found it really easy to hide underneath and wait for the birds to fly to the ground to pick up some seeds...and pounce. So, after that tragedy we finally moved the birdfeeder further away so that the birds will have time to escape. We are also going to enclose the underneath of the deck (which we should have done awhile ago)!

Loved your pictures!

LindaLinda Leyblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03345437844014740242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8980818082233101837.post-4805291005762967422012-04-08T18:23:44.790-04:002012-04-08T18:23:44.790-04:00Wonderful pictures of the cardinals and I love the...Wonderful pictures of the cardinals and I love the chick-a-dees! My husband used to resist because the seeds kill the grass, but now he is hooked on watching them too. We have red bellied and downy woodpeckers, cardinals, jays, nuthatches, finches, junco, chickadees, various sparrows...I can't remember them but I am joining the project feeder watch next winter! Your photos are beautiful, especially Mrs. Cardinal! I don't think we have cardinals in the west, but I love them. I, like you, love the snow, and the best day at home in the winter is getting to stay home while the snow is coming down.
