Practicing for luncheon...Number 2

So...last week I did my first "test" table for an upcoming luncheon.  It was blue and white (a new color scheme for me).

Now I'm back in my comfort zone, using red!!  The menu has been set and will be shrimp cocktail, fresh salad with rolls, onion mushroom tart, and homemade cookies for dessert.  There will also be cold beverages and coffee, of course.
Here is the long view

Come a little closer...
Here is the place setting...palest pink glass dishes on a small white plate for shrimp cocktail.  Next, the rose floral salad plate and main course plate.  There is a bread plate for warm rolls.
Another view....
I love carnations and I had white ones for this red vase...perfect for the red toile tablecloth
This is the first outing for this toile tablecloth
Coffee later with cookies for dessert...better get out more dessert plates!!
Last look at this "test table"
Now the "dish" on the dishes...

  • The small white Wedgwood plates and cup and saucers from ebay
  • Pink glass dishes from ebay

I'm already thinking of my test #3 for next week!

Thank you for visiting and I hope see you at your blog table!

  1. Wow! That is a striking table! One of the first things to catch my eye was the cut glass pitcher. How wonderful to know it was your grandmothers :) I think you are going to have a hard time choosing!! You may have to have more than one luncheon I'm thinking!

  2. Tess, Your red toile tablecloth is fabulous! Love your dishes too. Red is a real winner, and this table looks stunning.
    Blessings and hugs, Beth

  3. Love this table ... loved last week's table, too! Thanks for sharing.

  4. I usually like blue and white but this table is so inviting. I would feel very welcome at this table. The cloth is beautiful and I love those white dishes! Can't wait to see test # 3! Linda

  5. I missed last week's "test". I will have to go back and see it. I love all things toile, and red is my favorite toile of all so I love the colors for this one.

How fun to be testing them out!

You asked on my blog about the floral plates. They are old family dishes made by John Madduck and sons. I don't know the pattern.

I love pretty florals ALMOST as much as I love toile.

  6. I'm totally enamored with toile, and I love your table. The ruffled bowls are wonderful. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay

  7. Beautiful tablecloth.. Wow. Love how great the red looks together. Very inviting.

  8. Beautiful - love the red and white together, and that tablecloth is just perfect! Thanks for sharing!

  9. I just love toile and this red is particularly lovely. I like those sweet little pink cups.

  10. Oh my this is quite lovely! What a beautiful toile tablecloth! What a GREAT bargain. You've put this all together so beautifully -- it looks like a magazine picture. Thanks for your sweet visit too.

  11. Oh, Tess, what a beautiful the red, especially the toile. The flowers look so nice in that red vase. When should I be expecting the invitation? Have a great weekend.
